  • Cells of animals can vary in size and shape, but they take many features in common.  The diagram shown is a cell that might exist constitute lining the intestines. Color according to the directions below; the numbers correspond to the numbers on the cell diagram.

    1. The cell membrane surrounds the jail cell and acts every bit a barrier.  It controls what comes in and out of the cell. Color the membrane light dark-brown.
    2. The membrane can accept structures on its surface that help the cell move, or move particles within the body. This cell has structures called cilia which can serve to sweep particles past the cells.  Color the cilia yellow.
    3. Animal and constitute cells are both eukaryotes, pregnant they accept their DNA enclosed in the nucleus.  The Deoxyribonucleic acid contains the jail cell's genetic information which then controls the cell'south activities. Colour the nuclear membrane nighttime dark-brown.
    4. Inside the nucleus is a structure called the nucleolus, whose job is to brand ribosomes.  Color the nucleolus black.
    5. Dna tin can exist wound around proteins and create large visible structures in the nucleus chosen chromosomes.  Color the chromosomes dark green.
    6. The interior of the cell is made of a fluid called cytoplasm.  Embedded in the cytoskeleton are microtubules that aid the cell maintain its shape and form.  Color the microtubules green.
    7. Throughout the cell are small round structures called ribosomes.  They receive instructions from the nucleus to brand proteins that volition serve as the organism's building blocks for making claret, muscle, and other tissues.  Ribosomes tin be found all throughout the cytoplasm, simply many are located on the endoplasmic reticulum. Discover all the ribosomes and color ruby-red.
    8. The rough endoplasmic reticulum (rough East.R.) appears bumpy because it has many ribosomes attached. Its main job is to ship substances throughout the cell, mainly proteins.  Color the rough E.R. light blue.
    9. The smoothen endoplasmic reticulum looks similar to the rough, but it does not take ribosomes.  It has a few jobs, such as creating and storing lipids. Colour the smooth Due east.R. light bluish.
    10. Cells need to accept a source  of energy to power all of its processes.  The mitochondria takes glucose from food and converts it into a form of cellular energy called A.T.P.  Colour the mitochondria orange.
    11. Some cells have special structures used for digesting substances.  For instance, cells in your mouth accept lysosomes that comprise enzymes to begin breaking downwardly food.  Colour the lysosomes imperial.
    12. Proteins made by the ribosomes eventually reach the golgi apparatus.  Here the proteins are packaged into vesicles which can exist exported out of the prison cell to the part of the body that needs them.  Color the golgi apparatus pinkish.
    13. Proteins will exit the cells in packages called vesicles, which appear as bubbles most the golgi apparatus.  Color the vesicles yellowish.

Match the cell function with its office:
    1. Mitochondria
    2. Ribosomes
    3. Golgi Apparatus
    4. Lysosomes
    5. Nucleus
    6. Nucleolus
    7. Cilia
    8. Microtubules
    9. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
    10. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
    1. transports proteins
    2. packages proteins for consign
    3. moves the cell (or things past the prison cell)
    4. helps maintain the cell's shape
    5. provides energy for the jail cell
    6. contains enzymes to suspension down food
    7. creates and stores lipids
    8. contains the cell'south chromosomes (Dna)
    9. makes proteins
    10. makes ribosomes
